This Issue
To H.E.Abdallah Hamdok,The Prime Minister and his Government
The journey of preparing and directing all the issues of Mazaaq Khaas magazine is strenuous, but this issue has made a double effort because it is a long and deep journalist investigation that seeks to reach the roots of the problem, its origin, size, and effects, besides offering solutions and treatments.
We did not imagine when we plan this special Durra file, the depth and width of the historical, political, cultural and economical challenges that intersect with this file, and the national efforts seeking to replace wheat with Durra as a main food option for the people of Sudan,
Unfortunately still not enough serious political decision has taken place to support essential policies necessary to bush durra to act as main food as well as economic alternative.
Ironically, when we talk about alternatives to wheat as if it is our basic food historically, not durra, this problem is a result of the poor measures, poor development policies, lack of imagination and absence of scientific planning that flipped dimensions and reflected the image.
So to overcome this, we are documenting the testimony of the expert-in the science and technology of grain-Dr.Sit Al-Nafr Mahgoub, addressing the Prime Minister Hamadook’s effort, pointing out the genuine research and sincere National efforts led by Sudanese Scientists and Experts dealt with the re-consideration of durra as food culture, a way of life and a gift of God.
This issue is honored to be joined by a large pen to become like the jewel of the crown, the Great Scientist professor Jaafar Mirghani, a name honored platforms and adorned by his precious, wide and deep knowledge.
The late professor Ahmed Tayeb Zain El Abidin launched a delicious article in which durra was monitored in -its cultural and societal influences and impacts - on the whole Sudanese Culture!
Dr. Maha Obeidallah discusses the subject in its organic composition within the food balance chain, and the magazine consultant Haidar Altom in species and uses, traditionally and spirituality and chef Esaad recall the inherited food making traditions from durra & millet in her contemporary way, and the desert of this issue is Mohamed Fatih Abu Aqlaa who roamed us in a rich tourism and sympathy between the fields of durra.
Dear reader and advertiser: you have supported Mazaaq Khaas project, and this is still the covenant unplugged, provided that we are from you and to you.
